Mike Caveney is an American magician, author, historian, and collector. He was born on June 26, 1950, in Newport Beach, California, and grew up in Tustin, California. Caveney started performing magic when he was just 12 years old and soon became interested in the history of the art form.

Caveney has authored several books on magic history and performance, including Magicomedy: A Serious Business, Classic Correspondence from Egyptian Hall Museum, Stars of Magic, and his latest book, The Conference Illusions. He is also the co-founder of Magic Words, a publishing company dedicated to producing high-quality books on magic.

In addition to his work as an author and historian, Caveney is an accomplished performer and has presented his original illusions and mind-bending effects to audiences around the world. He has appeared on TV shows such as The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, and Masters of Illusion.

Caveney's extensive collection of magic memorabilia includes rare posters, antique props, and books dating back to the 16th century. Some of his artifacts and illusions are on display at the Magic Castle in Hollywood, California, of which he is a member and past president.
